I’d like to present my favorite coffee in New York City. As a lover of the stuff, I’ve had my fair share of coffee around the city, and I’m always open to new suggestions. For now, these are my top three:
By far the best iced latte I’ve ever tasted. My best friend regularly buys their bags of superior espresso beans for use at home. Truly outstanding coffee. Joe has locations all over the city including on the NYU campus and on the Upper West Side.
Made famous by movie stars in LA, Lulu Cake Boutique on 8th Avenue between 15th and 16th exclusively serves Intelligentsia coffee. The cold brew iced coffee is worth a trip to Chelsea. This coffee has a satisfying tang that matches no other in the city. The iced latte is also particularly delicious, as is a simple espresso: no sugar required.
While in the neighborhood, head one avenue over to 9th and find yourself in the expansive Chelsea Market. Halfway into the market, you’ll find Ninth Street Espresso selling some of the most delicious coffee you can imagine. Enjoy your drink of choice sitting in the area on one of the markets marble benches.
With a few locations throughout the city, my favorite is nestled on the second floor of Kinokuniya, a huge Japanese bookstore right across from Bryant Park on 6th avenue between 40th and 41st streets. A clean and beautiful presentation is part of what makes this coffee experience so rewarding. Oh, and the coffee is fab too. Try the iced coffee, which comes in a taaaall class with sugar syrup on the side.
Last, but certainly not least, is MUD coffee. You’ve probably seen the bright orange MUD truck across from the big cube sculpture in Astor Place. This deep-flavored, toasty coffee may be for on the go, but it’s not to be taken lightly! You’ll want to take a moment (or three!) to enjoy it.
